i went for the basic training yesterday.
the foreign trainer will be taking us through the next few days. at the first part before the break, he introduced himself and the volunteers who will be guiding us through. then he asked us what were our purpose of being there, and he said that purpose is not the same as reason. reason simply means that we happened to have free time, so we went for the training. eg. i came because i have nothing to do at that time. purpose means much more than that. its like the goals and aims which we want to achieve after the training.
he said that there are three main pillars of the purpose of attending this training for most people. first, its to learn about honesty, responsibility, trust, love, etc. second is to stop, step back, think, reflect on whether what they are doing is what they really want, and its time to switch path or start a new path. third is that their lives have been good, job is very stable and there are no problems in their lives, so they want to see if its really that great, like its too good to be true, so they want to challenge it. (if i were in the third pillar, i wont want to leave it. -.-)
he is a golfer. he said that he hates to use this example of tiger woods but there is no other people he can use. tiger woods himself has a coach. but since he is world's number one, why does he even need a coach? because he needs a mirror. he needs to see what others' mistakes are and change from there. he said that he just could not hit the ball straight, so he hired a coach. the coach simply changed his gripping and then he managed to hit the ball straight. then the coach told him to use this grip and keep practicing. its just like this training. we must take risk, change, and keep practicing.
guidelines for trust? its based on our belief system. our belief system is based on our experiences, culture, inheritance, etc. this gave us a comfort zone for us to step in because the world is full of uncertainty, mystery, etc.
he also told us about learning to ride a bicycle. imagine you gave your kid a book on how to ride a bicycle. he reads it and can get a A* for it. but does he really know how to ride? no, because he dint try out the bicycle itself. we need our muscle and body to experience the riding of a bicycle. so even if you dint touch a bike for years, you still can ride it.
thats it for the night. =)Posted With ♥, shermaine | 11:39 AM
